The higher-ups at WUOG have lost their minds and have given me my own two-hour slot on air as a host of Sound of the City. Yes, yours truly will be on the radio every Tuesday from 8pm until 10pm. The first part of the show is usually Live in the Lobby and the rest is local Athens music until the end.
I cannot even begin to tell you how excited about this I am. Lock an Athens music junkie like me in a room full of vintage vinyl, cds, and interviews….massive chaos! I’ve got a lot of work to do. Tons of research. No half-assing this.
WUOG’s had a great relationship with Athens over the years. It’s been the champion of many a band that couldn’t get played anywhere else. And many many many people have walked into its fifth floor doors and walked out having just met their new bandmates.
So here’s a plea. If you’ve got any old stories, tales, or ideas for the show, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Some of the older bands are hard to find info on and I really don’t wanna skip anyone because I couldn’t find out who their lead singer was.
