Blow after blow. News comes from the Widespread Panic camp today that Wayne Sawyer died in his sleep last night. Wayne worked with Panic for a number of years and was a great friend to many in the Athens music community.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his daughter and wife and all of his friends in the Panic community.

Wayne was a good friend, a funny friend, and a loyal friend. He always gave me a smile when I would run into him, all over the country, and years apart. Rest in peace brother.

Wayne worked for me as a graphic designer. He was a great guy, dependable, creative, and he cared. This is just tragic. My prayers go out to his family. Jon Newsome
watching some wsp vids on you tube, and see one titled Wayne Tuning JB's guit & mando, and then see the comments, and then the 68-09 at the end… dang, i didn't know. he was my roommate in Myerd Hall for a few weeks fall of 87 at uga, our freshman year. we called hm Neil because he was like Neil the Hippy from The Young One's. Whenever I would see him out or in a crowd, I could always get his attention by calling out “Neil!!” and he'd know exactly who it was. We remained friends over the years, and would run into each other at shows or just out and about. he was a great guy and always had a smile. the last time i saw him and the fam was at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for the kids Halloween event. R.I.P. brother. Denny McCoy
