If you want to know what’s going on, there’s three main paper resources in town. The Athens Banner-Herald is your typical paper, covering most of the town in a general way. Flagpole is our weekly alternative paper, covering hyper local topics and culture. Last but far from least, is the Red and Black, the newspaper of the UGA campus.
That ought to cover you as far as “traditional” news goes. For other outlets, I’d recommend WUGA, WUOG, AthensGaWeather, or *ahem* yours truly. There’s a ton of local blogs, tumblrs, and twitter accounts to follow. Some of them are listed on the sidebar to your right.
Now, as far as the music is concerned, which is probably why you came to the place called Athens MUSIC junkie, you’ve hit the jackpot. We’re a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a lot of fun. You’ve heard about our big guns, R.E.M., Widespread Panic, the B-52s, Neutral Milk Hotel….
