Let me assure you that Gordon Lamb has fantastic taste. But of course, if you’ve been around town for any length of time, you’d know that. One of the few people who I can trust to give me a straight opinion about an act, Gordon’s also one of the few who could pull off a “festival” like this.
I put that in quotes because, as he told me one night a while back, it’s more of a lineup of shows that he’s personally curated than a full fledged festival along the lines of Athfest or the like. Which brings us back to Gordon’s taste in music. As you can see from the lineup, it’s pretty much a rainbow of styles, genres, and abilities. There’s talk of another one of these festivals being held next year but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet.
Yes, Popfest is gone, and will remain so. But at least Athens Intensified, or as I call it in my head Lambfest 2012, can help smooth over that rocky patch with some great quality, good quantity, not in the middle of the fricken summer fun. All of it is happening at the Caledonia. If you missed the throwdown last night then make sure to get out tonight!
