Our good friends over at Athens, GA Weather have forecast a bright and sunny week for us! To celebrate this wonderful weather we’re having after a too long, too cold winter, I thought we’d take a look at some of the best places to hang out and catch some music outdoors.
LITTLE KINGS
Little Kings has done a magnificent job opening up their outdoor space in the past few years. When I first came to town, the area had a few mismatched chairs and tables. NO LONGER! In addition to the ever-present corn-hole game, there’s a place for bands to play, nice seating, and a wonderful laid back atmosphere for you to relax in. In addition, you get to people watch as folk make their way to other venues.
CALEDONIA LOUNGE
Sometimes the music is so intense you need a short break outside, right? Gotta let your ears stop ringing or grab a smoke or relay some important info to your buddy without screaming… Enter the Caledonia. It’s another of those venues that has done a LOT to overhaul the outdoor area. Most notable is the implementation of the patio area as a second stage during Athfest. It’s my preferred hangout area, but that’s just me.
GEORGIA THEATRE ROOFTOP
After the fire, the Georgia Theatre added a magnificent rooftop area to its venue. There’s no better feeling in the world than overlooking downtown Athens, drink in hand, breeze wafting by, and some great band or dj playing behind you. It’s definitely one of the things you have to do in Athens.
