Too Much and not Enough

Sometimes when I’m writing these little posts I see one of the free pictures they offer up for the main image and I can’t resist using it. Today’s is a guitar with little lights all around it. I don’t know why I’m drawn to this thing. It’s a bit cheesy but here we are in the land of cheese.

I had a few shows I was going to list that you should see this week but that’s all cancelled. I have a few albums that are being announced for later in the spring that I’m hopeful about. Maybe, MAYBE we’ll get to have live music for more than a few months this year. That’d be nice.

My band pals are already re-re-re-routing tours. Others are headed back into the studio because what else are you going to do when it’s too cold to play outside and too risky to play indoors? Livestreams only stopped cutting it for me a while ago. So what’s a music fan to do?

If you have the cash, buy merch. Buy your favorite band’s shirts, cds, bandcamp Friday releases, whatever you can. Gift ’em to a pal if you’ve already got everything. But if you, like most of us, don’t have a rainy day fund, there are still ways to help support your local favorites.

Does your favorite band have a Youtube channel? Twitch? TikTok? Mindmeld? Do the like comment subscribe thing and share it with a friend. Interact with their posts on social media. Anything you can do to push the feeds in their favor, DO IT. Talk them up to your friends. Put them on your playlists. Yeah, it’s a small thing but it does help.

We’re all in this together for a while longer. Hang in there.
