Happy Valentine’s/Singles Awareness/Galentine/Palentine Day. I hope you’re celebrating (or not!) in a way that makes you happy. Let’s get to the latest news and happenings in our little music town, eh?
Convict Julie‘s album Exquisite Pain drops this week on the 18th. You might’ve caught her on the cover of Flagpole this week. Folks, you don’t want to sleep on this one. But if you won’t take my word for it, take this one HERE.
All our gothic pals had a fun time at the 40 Watt on Friday for the Broken Hearts Ball. Thankfully Mike White was on the scene to get some phenomenal photos of Entertainment, Tears for the Dying, and Vision Video. It warms my little dark heart to see our scene getting its goth rock on again. You can see Mike’s photos HERE.
If you’ve read Endless Endless: A Lo-Fi History of the Elephant 6 Mystery already, let me know your thoughts. I’m in the early stages of making my way through it and would love to chat about some stuff…
Kid-rock band Like Totally! is apparently back in business. This is great because despite being a “music town” we don’t really take care of the small citizens as well as we should on the art front. Folks are trying though! Check out the band and updates HERE.
By the time you read this it might be too late to nominate someone for the Athens Hip-Hop Awards but if you’re here before February 15th then get to voting at THIS LINK.
A much too loud and on the nose headline from The Hard Times HERE.
Your annual reminder that The B-52s are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and that is a TRAVESTY. Read all about it HERE.
