The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Ah. You feel that? Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and this year he brought us the gift of more live music. I’ll admit, it was a little shaky there for a bit, but we made it through. Here’s hoping 2023 will be even better than 2022.

I know it was a mostly quiet year for myself and the others in the AMJHQ extended universe. We got out to a few shows over the year and enjoyed Athfest and Porchfest immensely. I’ve been watching the calendars for our local venues start filling in the first quarter of the year’s shows and I’m feeling a tiny bit hopeful. Yes, we’ve had a lot of losses this year but we’ve made a few gains as well.

As we’re entering the “fuckit it’s December” period, I hope you’ll take this chance to think about all the great shows you saw, the bands you discovered, and maybe say a little cosmic thank you to them for being a bright spot in your year. Maybe email them a thanks or leave a good review somewhere. Gift their merch or music to a friend.

To my lovely local bands, thank you for just existing this year. I saw so many tours get cancelled or end in the red. I don’t know how y’all keep getting back up and doing it all over again but you have my eternal gratitude (and some of my cash.) Thank you for your music.

To my lovely local venues, I’m glad you’re still here. Thank you for continuing to try and bring the best outside music to town and for trying to keep our in town acts on your stages.

And to you, dear reader, thank you for sticking by this little site. We’re gonna do some more stuff soon, especially for our 15th anniversary in 2023. Thanks for being a pal.

And to all a good night.
